OT: Can your instructor write?

BTW, OT is an abbreviation for "Off Topic," just as BTW is online shorthand for "By the way" and LMAO is short for, well, you know what it stands for.

Anyway, I have a column in the current edition of the Flathead Beacon, which you can find here.

Maybe this isn't entirely OT after all. We should start compiling a list of all text/online short hand. It might be useful in class. OTOH, doing so would take a lot of time.

  1. I have a good one: a WOMBAT is a "Waste Of Money, Brains, And Time".

  2. I think I may have to indulge in your recipe this evening. I usually take my Makers over a few cubes of ice, but I'm feeling a little adventurous these days. Who knows, maybe it will improve my writing? -Wes

  3. FWIW - "For what it's worth"

ROTF - "Rolling on the floor" often combined with LMAO

WOMBAT - Describes many of the jobs I've held over the years

  4. I don't text very often, have a ghost Facebook page, and never tweet. I'm beginning to think I am going to be learning a lot of new lingo during this class. I found a great website, netlingo.com, that should serve me well as I stare in complete confusion at all this shorthand. My favorite so far...

    CRT: Caucasian Rhythm Disorder

I am going to have figure out how to work that into an assignment.

  7. Heh, well being a youngin in this current era you tend to catch alot of these such as LOL (lots of laughs) and many more generic ones like that but my favorite by far are the ones that my grandfather used out of WWII like FUBAR, SNAFU, and SUSFU. All of which are not very G rated. Then there are the ones my uncles used from "Nam" such as BOHICA... Hopefully i will not be using any of these to describe anything in this class ROFLMAO!

  8. Anto,

As a vet, I completely appreciate your post. I completely forgot about all of those. Looks like I might not be as FUBAR as I thought!
